Backing up and restoring your Index

Backup your Index

1. Stop your Shinydrive Indexer Service.

2. In Windows File Explorer, navigate to Shinydocs\Indexer (may be a different location, depending on where you installed the Indexer).

3. Copy the “data” folder and paste it somewhere (it can even be in the same folder). Call it what you like (for example, data-backup-2019-02-12). You could then Zip it up as well.

4. Start your Shinydrive Indexer Service.

5. Start your Shinydrive Visualizer Service.

Restore your Index

1. Stop your Shinydrive Indexer Service.

2. Locate your backup folder. Unzip it if necessary. 

3. Copy the backup folder.

4. In Windows File Explorer, navigate to Shinydocs\Indexer to locate your existing "data" folder (may be a different location, depending on where you installed the Indexer).

5. Replace the existing "data" folder with your backup folder.

6. Rename your backup folder to "data".

7. Start your Shinydrive Indexer Service.

8. Start your Shinydrive Visualizer Service.

Note that Visualizations and settings for the Visualizer are stored in the Index. By Restoring your Index, Visualizations will reset to what they were at the time the backup was created.
