Ex01 – The migration cannot be completed because you don't have the necessary file permission

Problem

Migration stops unexpectedly with an error message related to not having the required permissions.

Report Error Message

Access to the path path is denied.

Windows Error Messages

• The caller does not have the required permission.

• path specified a file that is read-only.

• path specified a file that is hidden.

Cause

One of the following scenarios may cause these errors:

• You do not have the necessary permission(s) to migrate the file

• The file cannot be migrated because it is set to read-only

• The file is hidden and cannot be accessed or modified

Solution

Review and update permissions and properties for the impacted file(s) in your file shares and then click Retry migration to continue.
