Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

Problem

When accessing Shinydrive from Windows Explorer, you may occasionally encounter the following error:

The location is not available. {driveletter}:\ is not accessible. Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

Cause

This error is caused when Shinydrive is not able to connect with Content Server before Windows reaches its time limit to get drive contents.

Troubleshooting

It is considered normal to see this message from time to time. There are some steps you can take to decrease or eliminate the message altogether.

  1. Ping the server running Shinydrive from that machine, and check if there are packets lost or long response times. Anything above 45ms is considered a long response time.

  2. Check your anti-virus and security software and make sure Shinydrive has been allowed or "whitelisted". More information on that can be found in Configuring Shinydrive Anti-Virus Exclusions.

  3. Make sure you are running the latest version of the Shinydrive Suite. (The April 2, 2018 release has the updated Shinydocs driver with compatibility for Windows 10 Secure Boot.)

  4. Ensure Content Server is operating normally and that the server Content Server is on is not full or low on resources (disk space, memory, CPU allocation, etc.).

  5. Ensure you have allowed Shinydrive access through your firewall.
