Files with no extension are not opening in Shinydrive
This article applies to Shinydrive for OpenText Content Server.
Problem
Opening files with no extension will not open on Shinydrive. Windows has prompted to select a program to open the file with.
Cause
There could be two reasons for this error:
The Shiny App Finder is not installed.
The document was uploaded to Content Server without an extension.
Solution
Currently, files uploaded to Content Server with no file extension will not open with the Shiny App Finder. The reason for this is when a file is uploaded to Content Server, it associates a MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) type to the file based on the extension (for example, .doc). Content Server sees that the file is a .doc file and associates that file with Microsoft Word, even if you delete the ".doc" extension from the filename. Content Server will remember what type of file it is due to the MIME type. If a file is uploaded to Content Server with no extension, no MIME type is created and it will not know what type of file it is.
However, if your files were uploaded with a file extension (for example, .doc) and the file extension was removed for whatever reason, the Shiny App Finder will use Content Server's MIME type to find the program to use and open the file for you.
Please confirm that the Shiny App Finder is installed and up-to-date. This can be checked in Windows Control Panel under Programs and Features.
