Configuring End-user Authentication (2.5.1 or later)
Administrators can customize how Shinydrive users access the Shinydrive Client and the connected drives. Authentication schemes are configured in the Advanced Settings of each drive.
Enabling Single Sign-on (SSO)
Shinydrive can use Windows domain credentials (for example, domain\user) to authenticate.
SSO with Shinydrive currently only works with OpenText™ Content Server.
Before enabling SSO, enable the HTTP Negotiate authentication handler in OpenText Directory Services (OTDS).
Log into the Shinydrive Admin Panel
Select the DRIVES & PROFILES menu item
Click the Edit link on a drive you want to enable SSO for
Open the Advanced Settings
Scroll down to locate Enable SSO in the Scheme options
Check Enable SSO
Ensure Enable Automatic Login is unchecked
Save
Users must disconnect and reconnect to the Shinydrive Client for changes to take effect.
Enabling Auto Retry for SSO
The Auto Retry option is useful for users, connecting via SSO, who experience intermittent network connection drops.
Log into the Shinydrive Admin Panel
Select the DRIVES & PROFILES menu item
Click the Edit link on the drive you want to update
Open the Advanced Settings
Locate the Enable Automatic Login checkbox at the bottom and check it
[optional] Update the value in the Retry Count field
[optional] Update the value in the Retry Interval field
Save
Users must disconnect and reconnect to the Shinydrive Client for changes to take effect.
Enabling OpenText Directory Services (OTDS) Authentication
When OTDS Authentication is enabled, an Authentication Flow is displayed instead of the standard Shinydrive login window.
If authentication is successful, an OTDSSESSION cookie is set in the embedded browser.
Shinydrive uses this cookie with the web service call to get a valid Content Server token.
Both SSO and OAuth must be disabled.
Log into the Shinydrive Admin Panel
Select the DRIVES & PROFILES menu item
In the DRIVES section, select a drive
Open the Advanced Settings
Locate the Enable OTDS Authentication checkbox at the bottom and check it
Enter a fully qualified domain name or an IP address in the OTDS Authentication URL textbox
Save
Enabling Automatic Login
By enabling this feature, Shinydrive will automatically login users upon startup. This allows users to only enter their username and password once.
The username and password remain encrypted and cached until changed.
Log into the Shinydrive Admin Panel
Select the DRIVES & PROFILES menu item
In the DRIVES section, select a drive
Open the Advanced Settings
Locate the Enable Automatic Login checkbox at the bottom and check it
Save
